2kg, Serves 6 - 8

Add a showstopping alternative to your Christmas table with Thorner’s Loin of Pork, Boned & Rolled. Made with Red Tractor assured UK pork and weighing 2kg, this classic roasting joint serves around 6 – 8 people, making it perfect for Christmas Day, festive family gatherings or a Boxing Day feast that everyone will look forward to.

Loin is one of the most popular pork cuts for roasting, offering tender, succulent meat with a delicious layer of fat that keeps the joint moist as it cooks. The Red Tractor mark means the pork is traceable and has been produced to high standards of animal welfare, food safety and environmental care, so you can serve it with confidence. Thorner’s bones and rolls each joint with care, so it roasts evenly and carves effortlessly into neat, round slices with no bones to work around. Rub the skin with oil and plenty of salt for crisp, golden crackling, then serve with roast potatoes, braised red cabbage, sage and onion stuffing and a generous spoonful of apple sauce. Any leftovers are perfect for cold pork sandwiches with a touch of chutney.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

For perfect crackling, score the rind with a sharp knife, then pour boiling water over it to help the scores open up. Pour away any excess water and pat the joint thoroughly dry, then brush the rind with oil and sprinkle generously with salt. Preheat your oven to 190°C / 170°C fan / Gas 5 and roast the joint for 30 to 35 minutes per 450g (1lb), plus an extra 30 minutes. Check the pork is piping hot throughout and the juices run clear with no pink, then rest the meat for at least 15 minutes before carving and serving.
